Job Title: Power Plant Board Operator – Supercritical Unit Qualified
Duration: 6-12+ Months (Potential for Full-Time Conversion)
Location: Montz, LA, Rotating Shifts

Compensation: Rate up to $77/hr on W2


Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Power Plant Board Operator with supercritical unit qualifications. This role requires expertise in combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) or fossil fuel-fired power generation, with responsibilities focused on leading operations and maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shift Leadership: Lead shift operations, providing work direction and serving as the primary operator for plant systems and control boards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct shift safety meetings, job briefings, and audits to promote a safe, compliant work environment.
  • System Oversight: Manage plant start-ups, shutdowns, and maintenance for boiler, turbine, generator, and other systems.
  • Training & Mentorship: Support training and development within the operations team.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee contractor activities, conduct safety orientations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Emergency Coverage: Arrange qualified personnel for shift coverage as needed for absences.
  • Maintenance: Perform inspections, calibrations, and troubleshooting on complex instrumentation and electrical equipment.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in CCGT or fossil fuel-fired power generation operations or maintenance; 10+ years with drum/supercritical units and leadership experience preferred.
  • Certification: Qualified as a control board operator within a power generation facility.
  • Education: Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls, or equivalent experience.
    • Desired Skills: Familiarity with AC/DC Theory, PLC troubleshooting, process control, and water chemistry.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Shift Type: 12-hour rotating shifts (3-2-2-3 schedule), covering both days and nights.
  • Overtime: May be required to cover additional shifts.
